Welcome! 🙂 I am SO GLAD that you’ve found yourself here! My hills and valleys is a place to find encouragement in spiritual growth through the power of God’s Word as we navigate life and find common ground together through faith, family & travel.
We are seeking to build a community of women after the heart of God who seek to encourage and build one another up through the hills and valleys of life. So whether you’re on that mountain top, we rejoice together. And if you’re in the valley, then we pray and encourage.
At My hills and valleys you can expect to read personal life topics such as family, marriage, motherhood, faith, spiritual growth and more – always with the practical application of God’s Word.
MISSION
I’m a firm believer that our lives are best when led by the Holy Spirit of God. It is my mission to encourage a life led by the Holy Spirit because that is when our lives intersect with purpose and God’s Will.
The bible is a navigation system to life and I believe that faith must be visible and produce action in our lives.
At my hills and valleys we will be intentional about spiritual growth and pursuing God’s path.
So, welcome to my hills and valleys!! Let’s navigate life and learn to create a “happily ever after” to peace and contentment through a lens of intention and purpose. I hope that you find encouragement, inspiration and laugh along the way.
MEET MELISSA
Hi, I’m Melissa! I am a wife and mother to two boys, Robert (a tween) & Atlas (a toddler). I spend my days as a stay-at-home mom which is demanding and redundant but I’ve learned to find a deep purpose in my calling in our home.
I’ve been married for 20 years (that’s insane) to my high school sweetheart. Getting married young brings its own unique set of challenges on top of being an active duty military spouse.
We’ve been through the roughest of roads and are only together today by the grace of God. That’s one reason I’m so passionate about living a life led by the Holy Spirit.
You see, I wasn’t raised a Christian, infact, I only started living for Christ in 2007. Prior to that, I lived a life that was pleasing to my flesh.
I have experience in addiction, infidelity, abortion, having no self-control, no self-respect, insecurities, living in bondage of fear, anxiety and measuring my value to the ways of the world. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
But God!
God restored my marriage and is continuously transforming my life. So, I’ve dedicated the rest of my life to bringing honor to God for all that He’s done for me!
You can read my full testimony here.Â
I share personal stories of mine through My hills and valleys because it’s important to me to relate to you, to grow together and recognize that God isn’t only with us when we’re on the mountaintop.
Because every single day I wake up and make a conscious choice to take up my cross and follow Jesus. To fight against the enemy’s attack on my life in spirit and in truth.
If you know what that’s like, then I’m guessing you need daily encouragement just as much as I do and it’s my prayer that you find it here.
I’ll be honest with you, I originally started this blog as an outlet, a hobby if you will. But it’s turned into a ministry that strives to bring glory to God through sharing His Word with women who can relate to what it’s like to be redeemed!
Women who wake up each day and fight against the flesh and choose God’s ways over their own, because turning back just isn’t an option. There’s only one way up! God, keep our eyes fixed on you!
And if you’re reading this and you don’t know what it’s like to be redeemed, then this is for you too! Because the Word of God is alive and it’s powerful. And God has a plan for you which will be revealed through His Word. There is no life, that God, who is rich in mercy, is unable to redeem.
MY FAVORITE THINGS

RANDOM FACTS
The military has recently brought us back to our home state of Florida and we’re relishing in the beauty that brings.
Other than God and my family, my life revolves around eating. I love to eat and should have been a food critic.
That said, I’m not the best cook, but I’m not the worst either 🙂 I’ve taken some cooking classes and wish I could carve out time to take more! I really feel accomplished after producing a healthy, flavorful meal that my family can enjoy.
I savor my cup of cafe bustelo in the morning and drinking a pumpkin latte will forever remind me of our time spent in New England in the fall season.
Lastly, I genuinely hope that you find encouragement here.
Now it’s your turn. I want to get to know you, drop a comment or send me a message!
