Best things to do in NYC with kids
Going to NYC comes with heavy crowds and tons of walking. Our kids are either confined to their stroller, confined to their subway seat or complaining about walking so far. Let’s face it, our kids need places where they can just be kids and let loose! So I’ve put together a list of the best things to do in NYC with kids.
The Battery aka Battery Park
This historic area is a great place for kids to run around and there’s plenty for them to see and do. Battery Park is on the southern tip of Manhattan facing the New York Harbor. It’s fun to watch the boats heading to the Statue of Liberty and the Staten Island ferry cruising from the nearby Whitehall terminal. From here, you can even see the Statue of Liberty in the distance.
The green space here is a great place to break away from the chaos of the city. The kids can enjoy the sea glass carousel and running around the beautiful park. Be prepared to take family photos with the garden as the backdrop.
When you’re ready to get going again, there are tons of nearby restaurants and attractions.
Conservatory Water & Loeb Boathouse in Central Park
While in Central Park, our kids favorite attractions are the Loeb Boathouse and Conservatory Water. Here you can go for a boat ride, sail model boats, grab lunch, ice cream, relax and let’s the kids run around! It’s a win-win. Don’t miss it.
Museums
There are plenty of kid’s museum’s in NYC. From experience, I can tell you that you can spend a few hours or a couple of days seeing everything at the American Museum of Natural History. The Tenement Museum in the Lower East Side is a beautiful exploration of immigration history. I loved this museum!

Brooklyn Grange Farm
Yes people, there is rooftop farming in the city! Isn’t it marvelous? The Brooklyn Grange Farm is one of many rooftop farms in NYC. It’s a pretty incredible experience.
Taking a tour at one of the farms is a great way to show our kids how we can individually partake in a sustainable future.
