Dinosaur World Plant City, FL
If you’ve driven on I-4 in Plant City, FL chances are you’ve seen Dinosaur World. It’s located approximately 20 minutes east of Tampa and an hour south west of Orlando. It’s a lovely way to spend a few hours of your day, especially if you have toddlers or a dinosaur lover. I have a 4 year old who absolutely loves it.
Dinosaur World is a self guided outdoor museum with over 200 life size dinosaurs! There is an indoor museum with animatronic dinosaurs and a sandpit boneyard. For an extra cost you can go mining for gems. They have a large gift shop and great playgrounds.
Dinosaur World isn’t only for the kids, if you’re anything like me. On top of the joy you’ll experience seeing the excitement in your child’s eyes, the grounds are much like a tropical oasis. I happen to love nature and nature photography so this location has me mesmerized.
Dinosaur World: Plan your trip
There is a good amount of tree coverage, I’d say not all, but the majority of the walk is shaded. Which is a huge blessing in Florida.
You’re welcome to pack a lunch, snacks and drinks. They have plenty of picnic tables lined up near the playgrounds. There is also a nearby farm & winery that offers lunch and a free tour of their premises and by nearby I mean, literally around the corner, check it out here. If it’s the right season, plan to pick berries after your trip!
There are two well maintained playgrounds, one for kids 6 and under, one for kids 12 & under. My 4 year old enjoys them both. Visit the Dinosaur World website for admission rates. Active duty military gets in for free and family members receive $1 off admission.
