SeaWorld Orlando: Know before you go

SeaWorld Orlando: Know before you go

We recently went to SeaWorld Orlando for the first time in about 10 years and I wanted to share our recent experience with you! It has changed somewhat, especially with covid restrictions.

First I will say that we had an incredible day! I wouldn’t necessarily suggest going to any Orlando theme park on a weekend because it will be busier than a weekday. However, with that said, a lot of the Florida theme parks are not operating at 100% capacity and I did notice that difference.

But as you can see in this picture, it was still pretty busy. I’d guess it took us at least an hour just to get into SeaWorld between the car line & the standing line. Honestly, once we were in, it didn’t feel overly packed.

So, yeah, plan to be there when they open and on a weekday to avoid extended wait times, although you will probably still experience wait times.

Things to do

We spent a solid 9 hours at the park and didn’t see everything. We did purchase a ticket for our 12 year old to do the dolphin experience. When we got there we were told that since he was under 13 yrs old that an adult would have to be with him. So, we had to purchase a ticket for me to attend the dolphin experience with him.

Compared to my prior dolphin experiences in the Florida Keys and the Bahamas, this was short & wasn’t impressive. That said, my 12 year old thoroughly enjoyed it. We did get to pet the dolphins.

If you do want a full dolphin encounter experience in Orlando, then you’ll have to visit Dolphin Cove.

The food and wine festival in on now through May 9, 2021. I would totally recommend purchasing a ticket. We paid $75 for one “lanyard” that gave us 15 purchases and that fed 3 of us for the entire day. You would easily spend more than that feeding your family at the restaurants. Know before you go

1) They actually don’t allow you to bring in any food or drinks. Yes mama’s that includes snacks for your littles. I had a small bag of pretzels that they let me pass with although at each baggage check station before the entrance there were garbage cans full of other peoples unopened snacks and sip-ups. I got a random act of kindness I guess.

2) As far as covid, they do require everyone over the age of 2 to wear a mask. Atlas is 3 and he did not wear a mask, nor did anyone say anything to us about it.

3) Pack a towel and swimsuit if your little plans to go into the splash pad in Sesame Street Land.

4) Also, due to covid, you now have to make a reservation prior to attending a Florida theme park. Since they are not operating at max capacity, once you purchase your ticket, you then need to make a reservation for the date you plan to attend.

For discounted military tickets:

McDill AFB, Tampa

Shades of Green, Lake Buena Vista
