Our body is a temple: reason #1 Our Mind

Have you ever heard the phrase “garbage in, garbage out” what we spend time filling our mind with dictates what we think about and what comes out of our mouth. Do you complain a lot? Are you generally negative?

Being mindful of what we allow into our thoughts is an important step to healthy thinking and having a positive outlook.

Renewing our mind through meditation of God’s Word will succumb the old negative thoughts we don’t want running our lives anymore.

Treat your body as a temple bible verses related to our mind:

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. Phil 4:8-10

Bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5

Our body is a temple: reason #2 Our Body

We are given one body and it will age, so taking care of it is important. I believe having a healthy diet & exercise is one way to care for our bodies.

This is a particularly tender subject for me. I used to dress leaving little to the imagination; I’d use my body to get the wrong type of attention. I did it because I wanted to be noticed and it gave me a false sense of being valued for something. I did it because I was missing something inside.

Now, when I see a girl or woman who dresses with modesty, that is the look I find attractive. I see it as honoring your body because in my opinion, not all of our assets should be seen by the world. A woman who dresses with modesty can still look gorgeous in a way that shows she respects herself and has confidence in herself without having to expose herself.

Respecting our bodies also means not allowing every Tom, Dick & Harry to touch us. Our bodies are precious and valuable and not to be disregarded for a moment of feeling needed or wanted.” Girls, BE LABELED for having respect for yourself, you’ll go a lot further because you’ll find what you deserve.

And if you have God’s Spirit living within you, then live in such a way that honors Him.

Treat your body as a temple bible verses related to our body:

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1

Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you? God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple. 1 Cor 3:16-17

Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.” But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:15-20

God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin. Then each of you will control his own body and live in holiness and honor— not in lustful passion like the pagans who do not know God and his ways. Never harm or cheat a fellow believer in this matter by violating his wife, for the Lord avenges all such sins, as we have solemnly warned you before. God has called us to live holy lives, not impure lives. Therefore, anyone who refuses to live by these rules is not disobeying human teaching but is rejecting God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8

Our body is a temple: reason #3 Our Spirit

If the Holy Spirit of God lives inside of you, then let your life be led by His Spirit. When we allow the Holy Spirit (our helper) to lead our lives, we avoid sin by giving God the power to keep us on the straight and narrow path which leads to righteousness.

Treat your body as a temple bible verses related to the Holy Spirit:

God has not given us a Spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, of love and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7

‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ Matthew 4:4

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Galatians 5

Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another. Galatians 5:16-26
