Walden Pond State Reservation
If you’re looking for something to do in Massachusetts this summer, add a visit to the Walden Pond State Reservation to your bucket list.
You can easily plan a full day exploring this historic park or make it a half day and stop by Verrill Farms for their farm stand and strawberry picking.
Walden Pond has some pretty interesting history behind it, most famously for the work created by Henry David Thoreau. He lived on Ralph Waldo Emerson’s property for 2 years and documented life at Walden Pond in the 18th century. How cool is that?
You can come to Walden Pond and cool off in the warm summer months or go boating. If you don’t want to go in the water, you can stroll the walking trails, take a hike, have a picnic or visit a replica of the Thoreau’s cabin.
Be sure to plan ahead because they only allow a certain amount of people into the pond at once. They will close it off if it get’s too full. They were also doing routine water quality checks while we were there which was interesting.
The vibe is very New England and peaceful. I hope you get to experience a trip back in time when life didn’t seem so busy.
