Chasing God, the One Constant

Chasing God, the One Constant

We are living in scary times and that is just a fact. Some of us rely on our government to do what is best to keep us safe. If you turn on the news, you could be left emotionally crippled wondering how everything that’s going on in the world is going to catch up to you or your family. That’s why Chasing God, the One Constant is a crucial foundation.

On social media, there are so many different views, thoughts, opinions and theories going around that can mess with our heads and leave us questioning everything. There’s a level panic that we feel when we are not in control of what goes on in the world, especially when it’s affecting us so personally. Tensions and anxieties are high.

A solid foundation

We were forewarned of such throughout the bible in verses such as:

“I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

Did you catch that? Jesus gave us a problem and a solution. In this world, we will have trouble. Jesus said “in Me you may have peace.”

Build Your House on the Rock

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” Matthew 7:24-27

I encourage you to find Jesus through the scriptures to be able to receive a peace that surpasses understanding. (Philippians 4:7).

Nothing ever stays the same

Life is always changing, nothing in it ever stays the same. We are born, we grow up, we grow old, we pass away, seasons change, even things that don’t breathe will break and fade over time. See Ecclesiastes 3.

I feel accustomed to change, especially as a military family, but the foundation that has kept me grounded, is God. He is the One and Only Constant in our lives.

Scripture reference:

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8

The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever. Isaiah 40:8

“For I am the Lord, I do not change”. Malachi 3:6

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” Revelation 1:8

“All people are like grass and all their glory is like flowers of the field. The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever.” 1 Peter 1:24-25

Chasing God, the One Constant

I don’t know about you, but in a life full of uncertainty, I like knowing there is one thing for certain.

Now more than ever before we have to make a conscious decision to focus on truth and positivity over the unknown fears lurking around us. To combat anxiety in my life, my focus is on what is constant and unchanging and that is only God. You can read my battle to overcoming fear, here.

His promises are true. No matter what you’re facing today, tomorrow, yesterday, God’s Word is life. (John 6:63).

What a beautiful description of God that I read on embracedbytruth:

“All His perfections are without variation, without addition or subtraction and without progression or mutation. He does not increase nor decrease in strength and wisdom. His glory does not fade nor become more glorious; His righteousness and truth are not supplemented nor diminished. His knowledge does not expand, and His decrees do not change. His promises are steadfast, and His word remains unadjusted for all eternity.”
