Farms in Massachusetts
One of my favorite things about living in Maine and Massachusetts has been the local farms. Especially in the fall harvest season. Who doesn’t love pumpkin patches, apple orchards, corn mazes & hay rides. Aside from the gorgeous fall foliage, events like these make fall super idyllic.
I grew up down south and you don’t see fall this way in Florida unless you watch a hallmark movie. We have been to dozens of farms in the Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts area, each one unique in it’s own glory. But here are a few I’d like to highlight:
Wilson Farm in Lexington, MA
Literally, any time of the year you can come and get fresh produce and grocery. Their corn is the best I’ve ever had in my life! I also really enjoy their homemade baked goods. They have a pretty impressive nursery as well. You can enjoy events throughout the year.
Honey Pot Hill Orchards in Stow, MA
This farm is seasonal, but it’s definitely worth a visit. Here you can buy some local honey, indulge on warm, fresh famous New England apple cider donuts and pick your own apples & blueberries. They also have mazes, hay rides and farm animals.
Connor’s Farm in Danvers, MA
This farm is also seasonal and once it open’s the activities begin! Connor’s farm has a large property with tons of summer and fall activities. It’s a family favorite Massachusetts farm. Fresh fruit picking, farm animals, homemade ice cream and festivals. Check out their website to plan your day or weekend!
Verrill Farm in Concord, MA
I stumbled across this farm last summer when I took the boys strawberry picking. They have a great farm stand and you can pick your own pumpkins in the fall. They offer cooking and gardening classes as well. Check it out if you’re in the area. Make a day out of it and plan to come by after a day at Walden Pond.
Rollie’s Christmas Tree Farm in Lowell, MA
Okay, I may have saved the best for last. I have thoroughly enjoyed the seasons in New England. Except for the long winters, if I’m being honest. But, watching the flowers and trees come back to life in the Spring then being submerged in greenery in the summer to watching the leaves change beautiful colors in the fall, then dropping to admiring the snow covered branches in the winter. Being able to see this cycle of life has been really cool, to say the least.
Generally, the first weekend following Thanksgiving, were out getting a tree. Not at home depot or in the grocery store parking lot (no offense, it’s how I was raised). But at an actual Christmas tree farm, endless acres of trees to browse until your find your favorite one, then you chop it down yourself and drag it to your truck. It is so fun! We have been to a Christmas tree farm the past 3 years and Rollie’s is my favorite Massachusetts tree farm.
I hope you enjoyed this post! Please leave a comment, I love hearing from you! What are some of your favorite farms in Massachusetts?
