Life at home during Coronavirus quarantine.

Life at home during Coronavirus quarantine.

It’s amazing how we are adapting to life at home during quarantine. I’ve found that I still have scheduled events on my calendar, they just take place at home now. Originally posted March 28, 2020. Updated below.

I still attend istroll and my women’s bible study group through zoom. My family sits around the table on Sunday morning and watches our Pastor on Facebook live. If I need a good stretch, yoga or workout sequence to follow on my own, I’ll use fiton. I catch up with Atlas’ speech therapist once a week on google duo. I even stay connected with a few friends on marco polo.

Of course, I’m still blogging and using Pinterest 🙂 My 11 year old is keeping in touch with his teacher and classroom, virtually through google. He uses hangouts and facetime to video chat with his friends. He even connects with friends through his playstation and nintendo switch.

Technology sure has come a long way from when I was kid using dial up internet.

Outdoor activities during coronavirus

There’s something about the fresh air and warm sun on your skin that’s uplifting, more now than ever. If you have the ability to play outside while keeping safe distances from your neighbors, consider yourself fortunate.

Do you or your kids like watching birds? I got a bird photo booth and it’s so amazing. My kids love to watch videos of the birds. Check it out here.

While life at home during quarantine can be challenging, consider spreading hope to others; find inspiration here.

Indoor activities during coronavirus

If it’s raining, snowing (yes, it snowed twice this week) or too cold to go outside (too cold for Mama, that is) then rather than going outside, we do something together inside.

Some of the best times are when we’re sitting around the table playing board games. Atlas will sit with us and stack Jenga blocks or play with the Rubik’s squares and he stays busy for quite for some time. I have been thinking about ordering him an indoor trampoline though, he just has so much energy and not running around doing things as usual is taking it’s toll some days.

Books were currently reading

Right now, I am loving this book called Change your thoughts, change your life. It is biblically based and it really has helped me understand why some of my thought patterns are so hard to break. I was also recommended the Maker’s Diet and so far, I’m intrigued. Looking forward to seeing where it goes.

I am teaching my 11 year old the importance of making time for God. He’s at an age now that he can set his own time aside with God through study and prayer without me suggesting he do so. Ultimately his walk with the Lord is his alone, but I am leading him to see the value in it, so that he finds his own rhythm and incorporates it into his life.

I bought him the building faith brick by brick devotion book for youth. It’s super relatable for kids in his age group.

Atlas just loves the book, Duck in the truck. It is super cute.

Mental health during coronavirus

I’ll admit that I get anxious when I watch too much news or consider the worst case scenario for my family. I’m trying to focus on one day at a time because anything more than that feels overwhelming. I know that I can only control so much and what’s outside of my control, I give to God.

So, to maintain my mental health I focus on my family, the positives and God’s Word. If you’re unsure how to do that, start here.

How are you taking time for yourself during this quarantine to ensure your mental and physical health? What is one thing you wish you could do that you didn’t realize was such a precious commodity? (For me, I can’t wait to get a haircut!)

Life at home during coronavirus quarantine: 6 months later

So much has changed in 6 months! We moved from Massachusetts to Florida this summer. I have a 6th grader e-learning which has it’s challenges. We’re not as restricted to the house as much as we were when coronavirus first struck. But we still do our part and take precaution.

I think it’s fair to say that 2020 has felt like a domino effect of chaos. Praying that next year doesn’t stay on this rapid decline. But my faith is not in this world. Because although change is around us, I cling to the One who never changes.

How about you – how are you doing? I’d love to know how I can pray for you. Message me or comment below, I love hearing from you!
